The wetlands areas north and east of Lake Itasca will not be
developed under the existing site plan. Additionally, the
developers will include restrictive covenants in purchase
agreements which will require the owners of lots adjacent to
or including wetlands to leave an undisturbed fringe of
vegetation around the wetland and to prohibit filling any of
the wetlands.

2. To enhance the habitat quality of the east-west wildlife
travel corridor south of Lake Itasca, trees and shrubs
should be planted north and south of the proposed road. The
grasses immediately south of the lake should remain and tree
planting should not extend much more than 200' north of the
proposed road.

A plan for planting trees and shrubs in this area will be
developed, using the guidelines provided by Mr. Knudson and
the DNR's publication titled "Woody Cover Plantings for
wildlife." This planting will not only enhance the quality
of wildlife habitat in the area but will also provide a
buffer between the proposed homes and the railroad tracks
and T.H. 10/169 at the southern edge of the project site.

The plan will also include suggestions for plantings around
homes that are not harmed by wildlife (particularly the
damage done by deer is a concern). By encouraging
homeowners in the area to use damage resistent plants, the
potential for conflict between residents and wildlife in the
area will be reduced.

-29-

l
