SECTION 6 LEAVE <br />. e <br />vacation anr! cir4 4im� <br />6.1 Vacation Leave <br />The City of Ramsey provides eligible employee vacation benefits to promote rest and <br />relaxation away from work.-Requests for scheduled vacation should be made to the <br />Supervisor/Department Head by January 31 of each year. When considering whether to grant <br />conflicting vacation requests submitted during January of each year, seniority by department will <br />prevail; thereafter, vacation leave shall be initiated on forms submitted to the Department Head ar <br />the Department Head's designee at least two weeks prior to the requested vacation time off. <br />Exceptions to this policy are granted on a 4,LeFf limited basis. To assure efficient functioning of the <br />-GitziCity, it is necessary to limit the number of employees on vacation at the same time. <br />An employee's banked vacation leave must be within two times the yearly accrual by December <br />31 , unless approved by the City Administrator. Once an employee has banked the maximum <br />amount of vacation hours allowed, all additional hours accrued are forfeited. Employees are <br />responsible for monitoring their own balances. Additional pay in lieu of vacation is not permitted. <br />For the purposes of accumulating additional vacation leave, an employee using earned vacation <br />leave, sick leave, compensatory time off, or paid holidays is considered to be working. <br />At the discretion of the Department Head or the Department Heads designee, an employee may use <br />accrued vacation leave during the probationary period.— Vacation leave may be taken no sooner <br />than the next pay period after it is earned. Vacation hours may not be used to extend an employee's <br />actual termination date. <br />An employee who separates from the City "in good standing" after one-year of <br />shallemployment shall be compensated for vacation accrued and unused through the last date of <br />employment. If applicable —the compensation will be submitted to the non -union post - <br />employment healthcare savings plan.— Separation/vacation payouts are pan only available to <br />employees be takeii after one year of service. <br />New employees will begin employment with a vacation balance of zero five days, followed by <br />vacation accruals based on one of the following vacation accrual schedules.
