<br />. <br /> <br />. <br /> <br />. <br /> <br />Raising - The removal of lower branches or the removal of smaller <br />branches from larger branches to increase the clearance height of the limbs over streets, <br />alleys, or buildings. <br />'~eplacement Planting - The replacement of trees and landscape materials <br />into the minimum requIred landscape areas, as determined by the Zoning Ordinance, <br />conditions of zoning approval, or the provisions of this Ordinance. <br /> <br />Screening - A method of reducing the impact of noise and visual <br />intrusions with less offensive or more harmonious elements, such as plants, berms, fences <br />or any appropriate combination thereof. <br /> <br />Street Trees - Trees, shrubs, bushes, and all other woody vegetation on <br />land lying between property lines on either side of all streets, avenues, or ways within the <br />City of Ramsey. <br /> <br />Topping - Cutting back a tree to buds, stubs, or laterals not large enough <br />to assume the terminal role. <br /> <br />Tree Diameter - Wherever this term is used in reference to the <br />measurement of a tree it shall mean a tree's trunk as measured 4.5 feet (54 inches) above <br />the ground. <br /> <br />Tree Owner - The owner of the real property upon which fifty-one <br />percent or more of the trunk is located at ground level. <br /> <br />Tree Preservation Plan - A plan identifying and showing the location, <br />type, size and health of trees, stating the ultimate disposition of the trees, showing the <br />type, size and location of any trees to be planted and setting forth measures to protect <br />~ees before, during and after construction. <br /> <br />Tree Protection Area - Any portion ofa site wherein are located existing <br />trees which are proposed to be retained in order to comply with the requirements of this <br />ordinance. The tree protection area shall include no less than the total area beneath the <br />tree canopy as defined by the dripline of the tree or group of trees collectively. <br /> <br />Tree Service - Any person, firm, or corporation engaged in the business <br />of cutting, trimming, pruning, spraying, injecting chemicals, or removing trees or shrubs <br />for compensation. <br /> <br />Trees, Shrubs, and Natural Vegetation - All vegetation, woody or <br />otherwise, except grass and flowers less than 24 inches in height. <br /> <br />Xeriscape - An integrated approach to landscape water conservation. <br />Xeriscape means dryscape or low water use landscaping. Xeriscapes are" designed <br />through wise planning, plant and construction materials selection, and proper installation <br /> <br />-337- <br />
