<br />. <br /> <br />. <br /> <br />City Administrator Norman replied State land does not generate taxes; staff would like to get this <br />land back on the tax rolls. . <br /> <br />The consensus_ of the Council was to direct staff to include a case on the agenda of the next <br />Council meeting for approval of proceeding with an environmental attorney to assist staff in <br />dealing with the PCA regarding the City's purchase of the landfill site. <br /> <br />Mr. Colton indicated the approach of the firm is to keep the attorneys out of meetings as much as <br />possible. <br /> <br />Mayor Pro Tern Elvig indicated he would like a discussion by the Council regarding who this <br />land could be discussed with prior to engaging in the next step in this process. <br /> <br />Mayor Gamec arrived at 6:24 p.m. <br /> <br />7) Anoka County Sesquicentennial <br /> <br />Ms. Ward provided an overview of the scheduled events for the Sesquicentennial Celebration. <br />She stated one of the big events will be simultaneous fireworks in five to seven of the cities and <br />townships. There will. also be a flag carrying group, and it is hoped that the Boy Scouts will <br />participate in this event. <br /> <br />Councilmember Elvig indicated the Boy Scouts have discussed the flag carrying event and are <br />excited about it. <br /> <br />Ms. Ward indicated she will put Natalie Haas Steffen in touch with the City, and they will begin <br />putting together a schedule of events. She stated the sky is the limit for whatever. the City wants <br />to do to promote their town. She encouraged the City to commit to the fireworks display and <br />explained there will be a pool of money through the Sesquicentennial Board that will pay for the <br />fireworks. She indicated this year's Happy Days event would be on the calendar as a <br />Sesquicentennial approved event if there is a historic theme tied into the event.. <br /> <br />Bart Ward, representative of the Anoka County Sesquicentennial Celebration, noted he had heard <br />that the old school house was going to be moved to Town Center.
