The consensus_ of the Council was to direct staff to include a case on the agenda of the next Council meeting for approval of proceeding with an environmental attorney to assist staff in dealing with the PCA regarding the City's purchase of the landfill site. Mr. Colton indicated the approach of the firm is to keep the attorneys out of meetings as much as possible. Mayor Pro Tern Elvig indicated he would like a discussion by the Council regarding who this land could be discussed with prior to engaging in the next step in this process. Mayor Gamec arrived at 6:24 p.m. 7) Anoka County Sesquicentennial Ms. Ward provided an overview of the scheduled events for the Sesquicentennial Celebration. She stated one of the big events will be simultaneous fireworks in five to seven of the cities and townships. There will. also be a flag carrying group, and it is hoped that the Boy Scouts will participate in this event. Councilmember Elvig indicated the Boy Scouts have discussed the flag carrying event and are excited about it. Ms. Ward indicated she will put Natalie Haas Steffen in touch with the City, and they will begin putting together a schedule of events. She stated the sky is the limit for whatever. the City wants to do to promote their town. She encouraged the City to commit to the fireworks display and explained there will be a pool of money through the Sesquicentennial Board that will pay for the fireworks. She indicated this year's Happy Days event would be on the calendar as a Sesquicentennial approved event if there is a historic theme tied into the event.. Bart Ward, representative of the Anoka County Sesquicentennial Celebration, noted he had heard that the old school house was going to be moved to Town Center.
