'-" .-;' <br /> <br />.,.._..........,~ u____._,.- <br />. .~ " <br /> <br />.... _..._-, '..,-:-- <br /> <br />City of Ramsey <br /> <br />15153 NOWTHEN BOULEVARD N.W., RAMSEY, MINNESOTA 55303 · (612) 427:1410 <br /> <br />POW/MIA RECOGNITION DAY PROCLAMATION <br /> <br />" <br /> <br />WHEREAS, our Nation has fought in many wars and thousands-' <br />of Americans have served in those wars, were. captured by the enemy <br />or became Missing in Action; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, over 2,500 such men and women were left officially <br />unaccounted for when the conflict in Southeast Asia ended, including <br />46 Minnesota men; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS', 3a9 men were officially left unaccounted for when <br />the Korean conflict.ended; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the American government is still rece~vJ..ng reports <br />,that indicate the possibility that many others are still alive and <br />being held thus creating a situation many citizens of Minnesota con- <br />sider unbearable; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, President Ronald Reagan has defined "our conunon <br />-guest as the return of all POWs, the fullest possible accounting for <br />those still missing, and the repatriation of the remains of those who <br />died serving our Nation"; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, this Nation now enjoys the blessings of peace <br />because of all its veterans and their dedication to duty, honor and <br />sacrifice, and because we recognize this special debt we owe these <br />Prisoners of War and Missing in Action; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, POW/MIA organizations, veterans groups and all <br />concerned citizens have requested that a Saturday in April be set <br />aside for all l1innesotans to gather to show their support for a <br />speedy solution to this unresolved POW/MIA situation. <br /> <br />NOW THEREFORE, I, Thomas G. Gamec, Mayor of the Ci ty of Rams~y, in <br />the State of Minnesota, do hereby proclaim Saturday, April 9, 1983 <br />to be POW/MIA RECOGNITION DAY and have prepared this proclamation <br />for my signature and disseminate the same.
