<br />Councilmember Pearson introduced the following resolution and moved for its adoption: <br /> <br />RESOLUTION #06-03-086 <br /> <br />RESOLUTION ADOPTING PUBLIC WORKS AND FIRE DEPARTMENT <br />REORGANIZATIONS <br /> <br />WHEREAS, Springsted, Inc. is conducting an organizational study on behalf of <br />the City of Ramsey; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, a review ofthe growing needs of the Public Works and Fire <br />Departments has revealed a need to separate those departments; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the Ramsey City Council agrees with Springsted's <br />recommendations for a reorganization of the Public Works and Fire Departments. <br /> <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE <br />CITY OF RAMSEY, ANOKA COUNTY, STATE OF MINNESOTA, as follows: <br /> <br />The City Council of the City of Ramsey confirms staff s recommendation to adopt the <br />following organizational changes: <br /> <br />1. The current Public Works Director/Fire Chief would be made the full-time Fire <br />Chief, with one year's transitional oversight of Public Works operations. During <br />this year, the Fire Chief would assume the responsibility of mentoring someone to <br />fill the future position of Public Works Superintendent. <br /> <br />2. The current Director of Engineering would assume the Public Works Director <br />position, with direct responsibility for Engineering and Public Works operations. <br /> <br />3. The City would move to hire a senior engineer in the next year. <br /> <br />4. Create a Utilities Supervisor position to replace the Utilities Lead position. <br /> <br />The motion for the adoption of the foregoing resolution was duly seconded by <br />Councilmember Olson, and upon vote being taken thereon, the following voted in favor <br />thereof: <br /> <br />Mayor Gamec <br />Councilmember Pearson <br />Councilmember Olson <br />Councilmember Cook <br />Councilmember Elvig <br />Councilmember Jeffrey <br />Councilmember Strommen <br /> <br />and the following voted against the same: <br /> <br />None <br />
