<br />Councilmember Jeffrey introduced the following resolution and moved for its adoption: <br /> <br />RESOLUTION #06-06-175 <br /> <br />RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE AUTOMARK VOTING EQUIPMENT IN ALL <br />PRECINCTS IN THE CITY OF RAMSEY <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the Federal Government passed the Help America Vote Act in 2002 that <br />requires the voting method in every polling place to include a voting system that is accessible for <br />individuals with disabilities in a manner that provides the same opportunity for access and <br />participation and to vote privately and independently; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, one voting system, the ES&S Automark has been identified and certified by <br />the Minnesota Secretary of State's office to meet the requirements of the Help America Vote <br />Act; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, Federal grant funds were available to cover the capital purchase of the <br />Automark and will not require additional funds in 2006. <br /> <br />NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF <br />RAMSEY, ANOKA COUNTY, STATE OF MINNESOTA, as follows: <br /> <br />I) That the Ramsey City Council hereby authorizes the use of the ES&S Automark in each <br />polling place in the City of Ramsey for elections held after this date. <br /> <br />The motion for the adoption of the foregoing resolution was duly seconded by Councilmember <br />Olson, and upon vote being taken thereon, the following voted in favor thereof: <br /> <br />Mayor Gamec <br />Councilmember Jeffrey <br />Councilmember Olson <br />Councilmember Cook <br />Councilmember Elvig <br />Councilmember Pearson <br /> <br />and the following voted against the same: <br /> <br />None <br /> <br />and the following abstained: <br /> <br />None <br /> <br />and the following were absent: <br /> <br />Councilmember Strommen <br />
