The <br />Committee feels th t the special election will attract only negative voters <br />because ofl the air ort issue and it will be an unfair representation of how <br />the communi ty reillY feel s about a volunte e r f ire de pa r tme n t . Th e <br />alternatives recom ended are: delete the fire department question from the <br />April 19 ballot. c oose another election date to include a question on the <br />fire department orjSOliCit a professional public opinion poll of the fire <br />department. <br /> <br />Council noted that the fire department question to be included on the April <br />19 ballot is advis ry and not binding; the special election is the most <br />cost effe~tive wJy to get a fairly reasonable indication of how the <br />community feels ab ut a volunteer fire department and this issue should be <br />brought up for fur her discussion when all councilmembers are present. <br /> <br />Motion by ~ouncilm mber DeLuca and seconded by Councilmember Pearson to <br />table further disc ssion of the report from the Fire Safety Committee until <br />the February 9 Cit Council meeting. <br /> <br />Motion carried. <br />Pearson.
