However, numbers <br />alone cannot measu e the ways in which Ramsey has matured. <br /> <br />You see, Ramsey st, uggles with managing urban growth without sacrificing <br />rural lifestyles d values. Our CitY.CP1!lI1cil and City Staff have faced <br />the challenges of 987 with considerable success: <br /> <br />- We are now using the Cable T.V. system to inform the publ ic of <br />upcoming event and televising City Council meetings. <br /> <br />- A pilo1;: Key Co. unicator Program is being funded by the Ramsey Lions <br />Club to promot citizen understanding and participation in community <br />decision-makin . <br /> <br />- A Solio Waste ternent Plan has been developed to reduce the amount <br />of solid wast created in Ramsey by 16% by 1990 with a variety of <br />techniques inc uding recycling. <br /> <br />- Plans and ree dations have been made by an aovisory committee to <br />establish a vo unteer fire department in Ramsey to meet future fire <br />protection ne <br /> <br />-- '!Wo new hockey rinks have been added to Central Park with plans for <br />major improvem ts including a multi-use building. <br /> <br />-- 'llie City of <br /> <br />ey received a grant of $40,000 to improve River's Bend <br />City Council/February 9, 1988 <br /> <br />Page 4 of 14 <br />
