CASE #3: REQUEST FOR CONDITIONAL USE PERMIT TO CONSTRUCT AN ADVERTISING SIGN; CASE OF BREEZY OUTDOOR, INC. By: Community Development Director Anne Norris Background: Breezy Outdoor, Inc. is requesting a conditional use permit to construct an advertising sign at 7009 Hwy. #10 N.W. This property is owned by Mr. Larry Rudesill. The proposed sign will be located appro~imately 5 feet from the property line. This property is approximately one acre in size. The sign is proposed to be constructed with two faces, each approximately 300 square feet in area. Section 170.054 of the City Code states that free standing advertising signs shall be permitted on parcels where the subject activity is located or within 2500 feet of the parcel on which the subject activity is located. In any case, no advertising signs may be constructed without a conditional use permit. For your information, enclosed are the following items: a. Application b. Site location map c. Observations: As you recall, in 1987 the Commission reviewed Mr. Jim Franklin's request for a conditional use permit to construct an advertising sign on Hwy. #10 and recommended that the request be denied. The City Council tabled action on Mr. Franklin's request pending completion of the Hwy. #10 Corridor Study. Recommendation: Commission Action: Motion to: Recommend adoption of findings of fact relating to Breezy Outdoor, Inc.'s request for a conditional use permit. -and- Motion to: Recommend approval/denial of Breezy Outdoor, Inc.'s request for a conditional use permit.
