Absent: Erickson, Hansen, Lehman. <br /> <br />Case #2: <br /> <br />Ramsey Town Center Parks Update <br /> <br />Civil Engineer Linton stated the Commission and City Council discussed names for Ramsey <br />Town Center Parks at their June JointMeeting. The names are proposed to be ratified at the July <br />11 City Council meeting. ~ Staff will provide an update on the ratification. <br /> <br />Mr. Bruce Jacobson reviewed the "plaza" park with the Commission. <br /> <br />Commissioner Erickson arrived at 6:51 p.m. <br /> <br />Mr. Jacobson indicated the cost estimate is 4 million. The budget indicates a couple of million <br />for phase 1. <br /> <br />Chairperson Johns asked ifthe water was going to be encouraged to be interactive: <br /> <br />Mr. Jacobson thought the idea would be for dipping f~et in but he thought the Council liked the <br />idea of having dancing water in the fountain area. There was also talk about surrounding it by a <br />fence. <br /> <br />. Chairperson Johns indicated she liked how much green was going to be in the park. She liked all <br />of the elements ofthe park. <br /> <br />Commissioner aIds thought they maywant to make wood available for the hearths. <br /> <br />ParkslUtilities Supervisor Riverblood stated they could consider this but there are also issues <br />about smoke entering buildings and disrupting business. <br /> <br />Mr. Jacobson suggested it could be managed by the City. <br /> <br />ParkslUtilities Supervisor Riverblood stated he liked everything that was being proposed in its <br />entirety. <br /> <br />Civil Engineer II Linton thought the hearth could be simulated so they were not wasting <br />resources. <br /> <br />Mr. Jacobson also indicated they could have heated concrete walkways to maintain the park <br />better. <br /> <br />Commissioner LaMere thought they should keep this park as unique as possible and not to skimp. <br />on it. <br /> <br />Commissioner GIds stated whether the hearths are wood or gas, it makes the park interactive. <br /> <br />Park-and Recreation Commission/July 10, 2006 <br />Page 3 of 4 <br />
