analysis be done on each of the intersections on Alpine Drive to determine if all -way stops would <br />be warranted at each intersection. <br />Chairperson Elvig expressed concern with the amount of stacking of cars getting onto Armstrong <br />Boulevard off of Alpine Drive. He has been at this location at 5:30 p.m. with the cars stacked 10 <br />deep. <br />Police Chief Way indicated there are a fair amount of tickets written for passing on the right at <br />this location. There have not been any accidents, but it is a dangerous intersection with an <br />accident waiting to happen. <br />Chairperson Elvig stated the traffic proposed to go down Armstrong Boulevard will get <br />considerably worse according to traffic studies. With CR 116 going down to Alpine Drive it will <br />start to be an east/west lateral He inquired about the possibility of a temporary stop sign at this <br />intersection. <br />Public Works Director Olson replied he requested a temporary stop sign at Alpine and <br />Armstrong, as it was planned for the detour route, and the County did not agree with the request. <br />He would prefer to conduct traffic counts and complete a warrant analysis. <br />Chairperson Elvig suggested a flashing light or something to assist with the north/south vehicles <br />on Armstrong Boulevard. He stated Armstrong Boulevard will surpass the expectations for <br />• Highway 47 in 2030. <br />Public Works Director Olson indicated staff can request that the Anoka County Highway <br />Department conduct an analysis on all intersections from Highway 10 to Highway 47 on Alpine <br />Drive. <br />Motion by Chairperson Elvig, seconded by Councilmember Olson, to recommend that the City <br />Council direct staff to request the Anoka County Highway Department to conduct an analysis on <br />all intersections from Highway 10 to Highway 47 on Alpine Drive. <br />Motion carried. Voting Yes: Chairperson Elvig, Councilmembers Olson and Cook. Voting No: <br />None. <br />Chairperson Elvig directed staff to look at other potential remedies for short term traffic calming <br />on north/south Armstrong Boulevard and to bring it back at the next Committee meeting. <br />Present Address Signs for Townhome Developments <br />Public Works Committee / June 20, 2006 <br />Page 14 of 15 <br />Public Works Supervisor Reimer presented the Committee with examples of the townhome <br />development address signs that were prepared with the recently purchased sign making <br />machines. He requested direction from the Committee on whether to proceed with making the - <br />signs based on the examples presented. _ <br />-387- <br />
