<br />RAMSEY HOUSING Q & A <br /> <br />The City of Ramsey created a Housing and Redevelopment Authority (HRA) in the spring of <br />2005. The HRA's mission is to undertake certain types of housing and redevelopment or renewal <br />activities that will provide a balanced supply of housing for people of all income levels, <br />ethnicities and physical abilities; eliminate barriers to construction of affordable housing units; <br />add and preserve the existing supply of affordable housing; and provide mechanisms to prevent <br />and remove blight in residential, industrial and commercial neighborhoods. <br /> <br />Below are a few key facts about Ramsey's housing stock: <br /> <br />Q: How many houses does Ramsey have? <br />A: At the end of2005, Ramsey had about 8,000 housing units. <br /> <br />Q: How many townhomes have been built in Ramsey? <br />A: The City has about 1,300 townhome units, which represents 16% of all homes. <br /> <br />Q: Who lives in Ramsey? <br />A: According to the 2000 Census, about 51 % of the households in Ramsey are families with <br />children, 32% are married couples with no children, and 17% live alone or with <br />roommates. <br /> <br />Q: Does Ramsey have any rental housing for young people or seniors? <br />A: Ramsey has approximately 230 units of rental housing, which represents less than 3% of <br />all housing, which is one of the lowest percentages in the Metropolitan Area. The overall <br />percentage of rental housing in Anoka County is 17%. <br /> <br />Q: How valuable are Ramsey's homes? <br />A: The estimated market value assigned by Anoka County is the best number we have to <br />determine average value.
