Council Member introduced the following resolution and moved for its adoption: <br /># <br />ADOPTING THE CITY OF RAMSEY'S HIPAA SECURITY POLICY <br />WHEREAS, the administrative simplification standards required under HIPAA <br />include security rules for protected health information; and <br />WHEREAS, the City of Ramsey is subject to the HIPAA security rules because <br />in the future it may have electronic protected health information; and <br />WHEREAS, HIPAA security rules require adoption of a policy that outlines how <br />individually identifiable electronic health information will be protected. <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED THAT THE CITY COUNCIL OF <br />THE CITY OF RAMSEY, ANOKA COUNTY, STATE OF MINNESOTA, <br />Confirms the recommendation of the Personnel Committee to do the following: <br />Adopt this resolution indicating that the City of Ramsey has a HIPAA Security Policy <br />which outlines the measures taken by the City of Ramsey to protect individually <br />identifiable electronic health information. <br />The motion for the adoption of the foregoing resolution was duly seconded by Council <br />Member, , and upon vote being taken thereon, the following voted in favor thereof: <br />and the following voted against the same: <br />and the following abstained: <br />and the following were absent: <br />Whereupon said resolution was declared duly passed and adopted by the Ramsey City <br />Council this the 22 °d day of August, 2006. <br />G:\A dministration \HumanResources \Benefits\HIPAA \Consider Adoption of HIPAA Security Policy 8- 22- 06.doc <br />
