Greenway Corridors
Greenway Corridors include natural resources such as wetlands, hydric soils, tree canopy,
natural vegetation etc... These corridors are environmentally sensitive areas, which allow
for protection of water quality, wildlife movement, scenic views, and a continuous trail
system. Development would not be prohibited within this corridor; however, efforts to
preserve the existing resource base and return areas to their natural state would be highly
encouraged. This could be done through park dedication or clustering housing
development.

Character of Hi'lhway 10
Highway 10 might function as a freeway. Interchanges along the corridor would be
limited to major north south aterials. Design standards, road improvements and
redevelopment can substantially improve the image Highway 10 presents to Ramsey
residents and passers through. Businesses would be enhanced through redevelopment,
access management and design practices.

~6rld~8 OV8r the Mississippi
~~ new bridge over the river would make the metro area much more accessible to Ramsey
residents. Good bridge design provides opportunity to create identity and an active high
quality Town Center.

Gateways
Gateways begin to tell us about Ramsey, its identity and its history. They would be
located at key entrances to the community. Gateways signify when a traveler on
Highway 10 has entered Ramsey. The appearance of a gateway can vary from a simple
stand of oaks to streetscape designs to a monument sign.

Shoppin'l Nodes
Shopping nodes contain convenient shopping areas, which serve the basic needs of
Ramsey residents as well as those who are passing through. These nodes are already
existing.

Recreational Areas
Recreational parks include areas with high use and activity primarily focused on athletics
and exercise. Some of the more prominent areas include the golf courses and Central
Park. Many smaller neighborhood parks also provide recreational activities. Future park
development would occur primarily within the urban area. Residents within the rural
area would rely on individual private yards, Central Park and local regional parks for
recreational needs.

Elements of Concept B
Page 2 of3
