SECTION 12 DRUG -FREE WORKPLACE <br />Drug iiree Wo k place olic y <br />DRUG FREE WORKPLACE <br />In accordance with federal law, the cityCity of Ramsey has adopted the following policy on <br />drugs in the workplace: <br />iA Employees are expected and required to report to work on time and in appropriate <br />mental and physical condition. It is the cityCity's intent and obligation to provide a drug - <br />free, safe and secure work environment. <br />14, <br />b) The unlawful manufacture, distribution, possession, or use of drugs on cityCity property <br />or while conducting cityCity business is absolutely prohibited. Violations of this policy <br />will result in disciplinary action, up to and including termination, and may have legal <br />consequences. <br />The eityCity recognizes drug abuse as a potential health, safety, and security <br />problem. Employees needing help in dealing with such problems are encouraged to use <br />their health insurance plans, as appropriate. <br />_D. Employees must, as a condition of employment, abide by the terms of this policy <br />and must report any conviction under a criminal drug statute for violations occurring on <br />or off work premises while conducting cityCity business. A report of the conviction must <br />be made within five days after the conviction as required by the Drug -Free Workplace <br />Act of 1988. <br />12.1 <br />Drug, Alcohol, and Cannabis Testing and the Drug -Free Workplace Act <br />POLICY FOR NON-COMMERCIAL DRIVERS (NON -DOT) olio r r on Camme„ciul <br />riven. (N a OI) <br />Purpose and Objectives <br />The eityCity of Ramsey ("cityCity") has a vital interest in maintaining safe, healthful, and <br />efficient working conditions for employees, and recognizes that individuals who are impaired <br />because of drugs and/or alcohol jeopardize the safety and health of other workers as well as <br />themselves. The eiyCity of Ramsey does not intend to intrude into the private lives of its <br />employees, but strongly believes that a drug, alcohol and cannabis -free workplace is in the best <br />interest of employees and the public alike. Alcohol, drug, and cannabis abuse can cause <br />unsatisfactory job performance, increased tardiness and absenteeism, increased accidents and <br />workers' compensation claims, higher insurance rates, and an increase in theft of siKity <br />property.
