<br />Qty of Ramsey <br />Comprehensive Plan Amendment <br />Transportation Element <br /> <br />. On-Road (A) in Urban Areas - To be constructed within the street right-of-way and <br />adjacent to travel lanes in urbanized areas of the City. The trail will consist of two, 8-foot <br />to 10-foot paved shoulders. The minimullYwidth of the combined paved surface (travel <br />lanes and trails) will be 40 feet to 44 feet. (See Figure 3-11.) <br /> <br />. On-Road (B) in Urban Areas - To be constructed within the street right-of-way, but <br />separated from travel lanes by a 4-foot to 8-foot grassy boulevard. The trail will consist <br />of two, 8-foot to 10-foot paved recreational paths and should be constructed within <br />urbanized areas of the City. The minimum right-of-way for the travel lanes, parking lanes, <br />curbs and gutters, grassy boulevard, and the recreational paths will be 72 feet to 84 feet. <br />(See Figure 3-12.) <br /> <br />. On-Road (B) in Rural Areas - To be constructed within the street right-of way, but <br />separated from the travel lanes in rural areas of the City. The two, 8-foot to 10-foot trail <br />surfaces are to be paved and separated from the travel lanes by an 8-foot shoulder, a 10- <br />foot to 20-foot ditch, and a 2-foot buffer. (See Figure 3-13.) <br /> <br />. Off-Road in Urbanized Areas - To be constructed outside the street right-of-way within <br />35-foot dedicated, trail right-of-way. The trail corridor will consist of two, 10-foot areas <br />for trees and shrubs and two trail surfaces. One trail surface (natural or pav.ed) will be 5 <br />feet wide for pedestrians. The second trail surface will be paved and 10 feet wide for two- <br />way bicycle operations. (See Figure 3-14.) <br /> <br />. Off-Road in Rural Areas - To be constructed outside the Metropolitan Urban Service <br />Area (MUSA), separated from the streets, and within a dedicated 75-foot wide trail <br />corridor. Two, II-foot wide sections of the trail will support trees, shrubs, and grassy <br />clear zones. A two-foot wide buffer zone (natural surface) will be provided on either side <br />ofa 10-foot wide equestrian trail. A 29-foot wide buffer zone, consisting <br />of natural vegetation and trees, will separate the equestrian trail from a lO-foot wide pave <br />surface for two-way bicycle operations. (See Figure 3-15.) <br /> <br />. Multi-Purpose Trail Head Link - To be constructed between trail head areas and streets <br />to enable bicyclists and equestrians to access trail heads from the street. The combined <br />paved surface will be constructed within a minimum width of 48 feet. (See Figure 3-16.) <br />, <br /> <br />Page 3-48 <br />
