a permit for their removal. In existing woodland areas,
(Map 4, Woodlands) where it is desirable to perserve as
much of the woodland ecology as possible, cluster develop-
ment should be encouraged and plats designed to minimize
tree removal. Specific strategies are:
1) The City of Ramsey has no need for action on diseased
tree. removal, since it is currently being accomplished
on a voluntary basis due to the demand for firewood.
Woodlands should be protected specifically in those
sensitive areas falling under the designation of:
a. Wild and Scenic Rivers
b. Critical Areas
c. Municipal Shorelands
3) Within the above three areas, there should be no clear
cutting within 100' of the shoreline.
4) Within all other areas of the community, clear cutting
should be regulated to prevent erosion on slopes.
When new residential lots are platted, the City shall
continue to require at least one tree per lot.
The Park Plan should identify locations and priorities
for reforestation. (See Park and Open Space element
of Public Facilities Section).
7) The City should publicize the offerings of seedlings
by the DNR and SCS to the community.
