HOUSING The following are standards, or programs which should <br />PLAN become part of the City's housing program. These are <br />important approaches since they derive from local initiative <br />and are likely to have a direct and immediate effect if <br />implemented. <br />The City of Ramsey will develop a housing program which <br />will attempt to provide additional modest -cost housing units <br />and low- and - moderate cost units once utilities are available <br />Specifically: <br />3) The City of Ramsey will adopt a Truth -in- Housing <br />Ordinance to maintain and upgrade housing. <br />2. PLAN <br />1) In the areas scheduled for public utilities, Ramsey <br />will allow 6,000 sq. ft. lots as part of a Planned <br />Unit Development (See Land Use Element for more <br />details). <br />The City of Ramsey will increase densities for apart- <br />ment development to approximately 20 units per acre. <br />(After utilities are available). <br />The City of Ramsey will encourage developers to con- <br />struct multi - family units which will qualify for <br />Section 8 New Construction rent subsidies. (In <br />areas which have available utilities). <br />The City of Ramsey will encourage local banks to <br />participate in the Home Improvement Loan Programs. <br />6) The City of Ramsey will continue to cooperate with <br />ACCAP (Anoka County Community Action Program) to <br />make MHFA Home Improvement Grants more available to <br />residents of Ramsey. <br />7) Ramsey will work with realtors and banks to distribute <br />information on the MHFA Affordable Home Program to <br />potential home buyers. <br />8) Ramsey will encourage developers to seek financing <br />through the MHFA to help meet local,Section 8 housing <br />needs. (After utilities are available). <br />9) Ramsey will encourage the construction of energy <br />efficient housing. <br />27 <br />
