SUMMARY LAND USE IMPACTS ON TRANSPORTATION
The projections underscore the importance of providing
alternative east -west collector routes to reduce the impact of
short trips on T.H. 10. Additional relief will be provided for
this segment of T.H. 10 upon the completion of the 116 bridge
crossing the Rum River.
To the extent possible, the City should encourage the following
steps to help to reduce impact on the metropolitan highway
system:
Encourage ride sharing by area businesses /employees.
Encourage and aid special transportation /transit services
for the elderly and disabled.
- Coordinate with the Regional Transit board to identify needs
and services.
Continue with frontage road development along T.H.10.
Strengthen east -west collector routes.
-
Continue pursuing a new Mississippi River Crossing.
Provide alternatives such as walkways and bikeways to reduce
short vehicle trips particularly in the urban area.
32
