<br />e <br /> <br />1 '-:,.. <br /> <br />- <br /> <br /> <br />Residents of the City of Ramsey were asked a series of questions about their demographic <br />backgrounds. These questions were asked for two reasons: first, to validate this sample against <br />1990 U.S. Census findings; and, second, to track any differences between subgroups and the rest <br />of the population. There were no statistically significant differences between the findings of this <br />survey and the census data. And, throughout the course of this study, subgroup differences will <br />be discussed. <br /> <br />Residential Longevity_ <br /> <br />Respondents were asked: <br /> <br />Approximately how many years have you lived <br />in Ramsey? <br /> <br />The typical adult resident has resided in the City of Ramsey for 9.3 years: <br /> <br />LESS THAN TWO YEARS ........................... 8% <br />TWO TO FIVE YEARS ............................. 27% <br />SIX TO TEN YEARS ............................... 21 % <br />ELEVEN TO TWENTY YEARS ...................... 26% <br />OVER TWENTY YEARS. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .. . . . . . . . . .. 19% <br /> <br />While thirty-five percent had resided in the community for five years or less, while nineteen <br />percent had lived there for over twenty years. <br /> <br />Less than two year residents were most often 18-34 year olds, households connected to public <br />sanitary sewer and water services, and residents of Precinct IB. Two-to-five year residents <br />tended to be 18-34 year olds, owners of over $125,000 homes, households connected to public <br />sanitary sewer and water services, and residents of Precinct IB. Six-to-ten year residents were <br />most apt to be households containing children, 35-44 year olds, and households not connected to <br />public sanitary sewer and water services. Eleven-to-twenty year residents were most often <br />owners of under $100,000 homes, households not connected to public sanitary sewer and water <br />services, and. residents of Precinct lA. Over twenty year residents were most frequently <br />households containing senior citizens, over 45 year olds, households not connected to public <br />sanitary sewer and water services, residents of Precinct Two, and residents of Precinct 3A. <br /> <br />7 <br />
