Design standards, access management, road improvements and development patterns can substantially improve the image Highway 10 presents to Ramsey residents and passers through. Businesses would be enhanced through redevelopment, access management and design practices. Brid~e over the Mi55i55ippi A new bridge over the river would make the metro area more accessible to Ramsey residents and divert some through traffic. The alternative in Concept A may have less impact on existing development and parkland. GateWaY5 Gateways begin to tell us about Ramsey, its identity and its history. They would be seen at major roadways as you travel south from Bums Township into Ramsey or as you head north off of Highway 10. The appearance of a gateway can vary from a simple stand of oaks to streetscape designs to a monument sign. Shoppin~ Node5 Shopping nodes contain convenient shopping areas, which serve the basic needs of Ramsey residents as well as those who are passing through. These nodes are already existing. Recreational Area5 Recreational parks include areas with high use and activity primarily focused on athletics and exercise. Some of the more prominent areas include the golf courses and Central Park. Many smaller neighborhood parks also provide recreational activities. Future park development would occur primarily within the urban area. Residents within the rural area would rely on private yards, Central Park and local regional parks for recreational needs. Scenic Roadways Some stretches of roadway in Ramsey provide opportunities for scenic vistas that preserve the rural character of the community. An overlay district that designates roadways as having significant scenic values would apply design and planning principles to preserve the rural character of the community.
