(612) 427-1410 <br /> <br />January 30, 1978 <br /> <br />TO WHOM IT MAY CONCERN <br />SUBJECT: ON-SITE SEPTIC TREATMENT INSTALLATIONS <br /> <br />At its regular Council Meeting on January 9, 1978 the City of Ramsey adopted <br />a recodification of the existing city ordinances. Included in this recodifi- <br />cation were the revisions to the ordinance controlling the design and con- <br />struction of on-site septic treatment facilities. <br /> <br />The ordinance has minor revisions basically patterned after W.P.C.-40 as pro- <br />posed by the Pollution Control Agency. The differences from W.P.C.-40 that <br />will affect you as installers are as follows: <br /> <br />1. All tanks, regardless of material or method of construction shall be <br />one (1) piece precast. <br /> <br />2. Required soil treatment areas shall be designed for estimated flows of <br />two hundred (200) gallons per day per bedroom. <br /> <br />3. A three bedroom home using this design would require a 1,000 gallon tank <br />and 500 square foot drainfield. <br /> <br />4. Trenches with a maximum width of three (3) feet may be reduced in size <br />for additional depths of rock. Beds shall not be reduced in size for addi- <br />tional rock depth. <br /> <br />5. The necessary perculation tests will be determined by the plumbing in- <br />spector either at the time of the site inspection or at the time of the <br />footing inspections. <br /> <br />Enclosed please find a copy of a registration form for a seminar on septic <br />system design. It is based on W.P.C.-40 and focuses on the problems of <br />ground water contamination which is a real threat in the City of Ramsey. <br /> <br />Where conditions warrant alternate designs are a part of the ordinance and <br />may be required.
