..- ~ ...

~ Metropolit~ Council

~ Working for the Region, Planning for the Future

e

September 22, 1999

RECEIVED
SEP 2 4 1999

BY:

Jim Norman, Administrator
City of Ramsey
15153 Nowthen Blvd. NW
Ramsey, MN 55303

RE: Request for Extension of Deadline for Completion of the
Local Comprehensive Plan

Dear Mr. Norman:

The Metropolitan Council has received an information form and a resolution adopted by
the City of Ramsey requesting an extension of the deadline for submittal of your revised
local comprehensive plan.

At present, the Metropolitan Council has authorized staff to grant extensions of the plan
preparation period through December 31, 1999. Pursuant to your request, the Council is
granting Ramsey an extension toDecember 31, 1999, to formally submit the plan to the
Metropolitan Council for review. We understand the plan may arrive much sooner.

For plans that cannot be completed by December 31, 1999, with the mandatory sixty-day
adjacent community review, additional administrative deadline extensions will not be
possible, thus requiring special action by the Metropolitan Council to extend the
completion deadline on a community-by-community basis. Also, please note that this
letter does not affect contractual Critical Area Plan and ordinance timeframes.

Sandra Pinel, your local sector representative, will be following up with your staff to
discuss information provided on the form and to offer assistance in resolving any of the
issues you identified that may affect the completion of the plan update.

In an effort to expedite completion of your community's plan, staff would like to call your
attention to the following. You will need to complete an individual sewage treatment
system (ISTS) management plan consistent with Minnesota Rules Chapter 7080 as part of
the comprehensive plan update if your community has septic systems. If you have any
questions about this requirement, please call Judy Sventek, MCES Watershed Coordinator,
at 651/602-1156. - -

V :\LIBRARY\COMMUNDV\Schenk\1999\090 1599Ext-ackn-SP Anoka.DOC

(651) 602-1000

Fax 602-1550 TDD/TrY 291-0904 Metro Info Line 602-1888

230 East Fifth Street S1.
