<br />..... <br /> <br />Councilmember Kurak introduced the following resolution and moved for its adoption: <br /> <br />RESOLUTION #04-02-042 <br /> <br />A RESOLUTION IDENTIFYING FINDINGS, APPROVING A COMPRHENSIVE PLAN <br />AMENDMENT TO CHANGE A LAND USE DESIGNATION FROM MEDIUM DENSITY <br />RESIDENTIAL TO PLACES TO SHOP, AND AUTHORIZING CITY STAFF TO SUBMIT <br />AN APPLICATION TO THE METROPOLITAN COUNCIL FOR AN AMENDMENT TO <br />THE COMPREHENSIVE PLAN <br /> <br />WHEREAS, on January 20, 2004, the City of Ramsey received a request from a property <br />owner on U.S. Highway 10 requesting an amendment to the Comprehensive Plan to change the future <br />land use designation of his property from Medium Density Residential to Places to Work for the <br />following legally described property: <br /> <br />Beginning at a point on the East line of the Southeast Quarter of the Northwest Quarter of <br />Section 29, Township 32, Range 25, 30 feet south of the intersection of said line with the <br />southerly boundary of the right-of-way of U.S. Highway No. 10; thence northwesterly and <br />parallel with said highway and 30 feet southwesterly thereof a distance of 200 feet; thence <br />southerly and parallel with the east line of the said Southeast Quarter of the Northwest <br />Quarter a distance of 400 feet; thence southeasterly and parallel with U.S. Highway No. <br />10 a distance of 200 feet to the east line of said Southeast Quarter of the Northwest <br />Quarter; thence north along the east line of the Southeast Quarter of the Northwest <br />Quarter a distance of 400 feet to point of beginning. <br /> <br />Together with an easement for ingress and egress to U.S. Highway No. 10 over and across <br />the 30 foot strip of land between said Highway and the property above described. <br /> <br />(The Subject Property) <br /> <br />AND WHEREAS, the Comprehensive Plan approved in 2001 shows the subject property <br />designated land use as Medium Density Residential; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the property owners are requesting that the subject property designated land use <br />be changed to Places to Shop; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the Ramsey Planning Commission met on February 5, 2004, conducted a public <br />hearing, and recommended that the Ramsey City Council approve the request for an amendment to <br />the Comprehensive Plan; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the adjacent land uses are designated as Places to Shop, and Medium Density <br />Residential; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the City finds that given the Subject Property's historically commercial nature <br />and adjacency to similar commercial uses, a land use designation of Places to Shop is appropriate. <br />
