<br />Planning session, the City Council agreed to study options for providing services beyond the <br />current urban service area. The City Council and the Planning Commission met in joint session <br />on March 16th and discussed the need to undertake a comprehensive plan amendment and <br />environmental review that will study different service options. It was agreed that the Planning <br />Commission will playa major role in this process. <br /> <br />Recommendation: <br /> <br />Because of the range of lot sizes surrounding the subject property, the development of the Alpine <br />Acres townhomes across Sunfish Lake Blvd., and the imminence of comprehensive planning <br />outside the current urban service area, staffis recommending approval of the applicant's request <br />for Comprehensive Plan Amendment. <br /> <br />At their April 1, 2004 meeting the Planning Commission recommended approval of the <br />Comprehensive Plan Amendment and the Preliminary Plat of Alpine Woods. <br /> <br />Council Action: <br /> <br />Motion to adopt the resolution approving the Comprehensive Plan Amendment and authorizing <br />staff to submit the Amendment to the Metropolitan Council contingent upon the applicant <br />receiving final plat approval of Alpine Woods. <br /> <br />-or- <br /> <br />Motion to deny the request for a Comprehensive Plan Amendment. <br /> <br />Reviewed by: <br />City Administrator <br />Assistant Community Development Director <br /> <br />CC: 04/27/04 <br />
