<br />CASE#c1 <br /> <br />AUTHORIZE PLAN PREPARATION FOR BUNKER LAKE BOULEVARD <br />W ATERMAIN IMPROVEMENTS <br />By: Leonard Linton, Civil Engineer II <br /> <br />Background: <br /> <br />The 2004 Comprehensive Water Study identified the need for additional sources of water to <br />serve the projected growth of the City. The study indicated that construction of three (3) new <br />water supply wells were required to meet immediate projected growth needs. Well 6 was <br />constructed in 2005,W ells 7 & 8 were bid and authorized in August 2006, . Well 7 will be . <br />adjacent to Fire Station No.1 and will connect to the pipes in Armstrong Boulevard installed as <br />part of the Northwest Sewer and Water Project. Well 8 will be installed in North Commons <br />adjacent to Ramsey Town Center 8th and 10th Additions. <br /> <br />The purpose of this project is to connect the watermains installed as part of the NW Sewer and <br />Water Project to watermains installed by Ramsey Town Center. The pipes will be installed in <br />the right-of-way of Bunker Lake Boulevard from Town Center Drive west to near the <br />intersection of Armstrong Boulevard and Bunker Lake Boulevard. A sketch of the work area is <br />attached for reference. These proposed watermains must be operational in order to connect the <br />new wells to the City system. The wells are scheduled to be completed by June 1,2006. <br /> <br />A proposal was requested from Bolton & Menk, Inc. for this work. <br /> <br />Staff Recommendation: <br /> <br />Staff recommends approval of the contract with Bolton & Menk, Inc for Engineering Services <br />for Bunker Lake Boulevard Watermain Connection for the not to exceed amount of$35,580. <br /> <br />Council Action: <br /> <br />Motion to adopt Resolution 06-09-XXX approving.the contract with Bolton & Menk, Inc for <br />Engineering Services for Bunker Lake Boulevard Watermain Connection for the not to exceed <br />amount of$35,580. <br /> <br />Reviewed by: <br /> <br />Public Works Director/Principal City Engineer <br /> <br />CC: 09/14/06 <br /> <br />5 <br />
