Mayor Gamec explained the City must also pay interest on the money; everyone is assessed by policy. City Engineer Jankowski explained Mr. Thelen could choose to pay it off over a IO-year period and that it would be part of his County taxes. Motion by Councilmember Elvig, seconded by Councilmember Cook, to close the public hearing. Motion carried. V oting Yes: Mayor Gamec, Councilmembers Elvig, Cook, Jeffrey, Olson, and Pearson. Voting No: None. Absent: Councilmember Strommen. The public hearing was closed at 7:35 p.m. Council Business Mayor Gamec called the regular City Council meeting back to order at 7:35 p.m. Councilmember Elvig commented he is interested in moving quickly because if it goes through the bid process again, the cost will be higher. Councilmember Cook said he does not want to see it go into next year's construction timeline. Mayor Gamec stated if some of these streets were not done soon, most of them would become total reconstruction. Motion by Councilmember Elvig, seconded by Councilmember Jeffrey, to adopt Resolutions 06- 08-251B through 06-08-251H levying special assessments for Improvement Projects 06-04, 06- 05,06-06,06-07,06-08,06-09, and 06-11 Bituminous Overlays of City Streets. Motion carried. Voting Yes: Mayor Gamec, Councilmembers Elvig, Jeffrey, Cook, Olson, and Pearson. Voting No: None. Absent: Councilmember Strommen. Motion by Councilmember Cook, seconded by Councilmember Olson, to award the project to the lowest bidder after a waiting period of 30 days. Motion carried. V oting Yes: Mayor Gamec, Councilmembers Cook, Olson, Elvig, Jeffrey, and Pearson. Voting No: None. Absent: Councilmember Strommen. MAYOR, COUNCIL AND STAFF INPUT None.
