CONSIDER AWARD OF BIDS FOR IMPROVEMENT PROJECT 06 -31
143' LANE /SUNFISH LAKE BOULEVARD STORM SEWER
IMPROVEMENTS
By: Steven Jankowski, City Engineer
Background:
Bids for this project will be opened on Monday, September 25, 2006 and bids will be
presented at the meeting.
This project was authorized at the September 12, 2006 Council meeting and consists of
the installation of approximately 600 feet of 15 inch storm sewer along 143 Lane and
Sunfish Lake Boulevard to correct a long standing drainage problem in this area.
Currently drainage from 143rd Lane into the property located at 6384 143 Lane. There
is no drainage and utility easement on this property.
At the present time drainage from 143 Lane is collected in roadside ditches and is
discharged through a culvert across 143r Lane into the property located at 6384 143
Lane. Because this property is considerably lower than the surrounding area, the storm
runoff collects in the rear yard and remains until it infiltrates into the sandy soil. A dry
well has been constructed to enhance the infiltration; however, this rear yard has been
chronically flooded. The project has been estimated to cost $60,000 and will be funded
from the storm water utility fund.
Recommendation:
To be based upon the bids received.
Action:
Motion to award the contract for Improvement Project 06 -31 to the low responsible
bidder, contingent upon an acceptable bid being received.
Reviewed By:
Public Works Director/Principal Engineer
Fire Chief
City Attorney
CC: 09/26/06
CASE #
