<br />Motion carried. Voting Yes: Mayor Gamec, Councilmembers Cook, Pearson, Elvig, and <br />Jeffrey. Voting No: None. Absent: Councilmembers Olson and Strommen. <br /> <br />Case #8: Report from Finance Committee <br /> <br />1) Representative from Connexus Energy Regarding Utility Billing Contract and <br />$6,000 Water Bill <br /> <br />Councilmember Elvig stated the Finance Corrimittee met with a representative of Connexus <br />Energy regarding the utility billing contract and the $6,000 water bill received by a homeowner <br />with a broken water line outside her house. The homeowner and her representation have <br />contended if the meter had been read more consistently the issue would have been caught prior to <br />the water bill becoming so large; they are asking for assistance by the City or Connexus. <br />Tonight the Finance Committee met with a representative of Conn ex us and discussed how the <br />meter reading is done. There are things that came from the discussion, such as establishing <br />performance criteria with Connexus for the meter readings. The Finance Committ~e asked for a <br />couple of options to be included in the contract, and what that cost would be to the City and the <br />users to monitor things more carefully with a higher level of service. Finance Officer Lund and <br />the Connexus representative will discuss the sitUation further and will come back to the <br />Committee with more recommendations in a couple of months. <br /> <br />MA YOR,COUNCIL AND STAFF INPUT <br /> <br />Mayor Gamec announced the following: <br />- Highway 47 Transportation Study Open House at Lord of Life Church scheduled for <br />August 24 from 5:30 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. <br />-A City Council work session is scheduled for August 29 at 5:30 p.m. <br />- The Anoka County Elected Officials Meeting is scheduled for August 30th at Chominox <br />Golf Course. <br />- The City is looking for volunteers interested in participating in the parade and car show <br />for the upcoming Happy Days event. <br /> <br />Councilmember Pearson announced Fire Chief Kapler, Police Chief Way, City Administrator <br />Norman, and he attended the groundbreaking for the 800 megahertz radio tower. The tower will <br />be a vital link to give all the emergency personnel total contact with each other. <br /> <br />City Attorney Goodrich announced the following City schedule with his office this week: <br />- Closing on the GM Homes transaction on August 23rd. <br />- Condemnation hearings regarding 18 parcels in Ramsey Crossings on August 26th. <br /> <br />ADJOURNMENT <br /> <br />Motion by Councilmember Elvig, seconded by Councilmember Jeffrey, to adjourn the meeting. <br /> <br />Motion carried. <br /> <br />City Council / August 22,2006 <br />Page 17 of18 <br /> <br />P37 <br />
