6. 2. <br />CC Regular Session <br />Meeting Date: <br />01/28/2025 <br />Primary Strategic Plan Initiative: Strive for high organizational morale and employee retention <br />Title: <br />Authorization to Promote the Police Records Technician/Data Analyst to Crime Data Analyst <br />Purpose/Background: <br />The purpose of this case is to promote the City's full-time Police Records Technician/Data Analyst to full-time <br />Crime Data Analyst. <br />Background: This position was included in the 2025 budget. The Crime Data Analyst is a non -sworn, non -union, <br />exempt, professional position which is needed to provide real-time information to make operational decisions and <br />assist with analysis of investigative data (intelligence -led policing). This position will provide intelligence and <br />real-time crime data for supervisors and command staff to use in making decisions regarding resource deployment <br />and operations. <br />Under the general direction of the Administrative Captain, the Crime Data Analyst plays a pivotal role in <br />supporting law enforcement operations by analyzing and disseminating crime -related data. Using advanced crime <br />mapping, GIS, and data analysis tools, the analyst provides valuable intelligence to assist in investigations, <br />community policing, and strategic planning. <br />This position requires a bachelor's degree in a related field, at least three (3) years of experience in data analysis, <br />crime analysis and a Crime Analyst certificate, as well as a professional attitude, technical expertise, and the <br />ability to foster positive relationships within all department divisions and with external agencies. <br />Ms. Jamie Hedburg is the current full-time Police Records Technician/Crime Analyst. With this promotion, Ms. <br />Hedburg will become the new full-time Crime Data Analyst. The Police Records Technician/Crime Analyst <br />position will be eliminated.
