Mayor Gamec asked how many officers there are per resident. <br />Police Chief Way replied the ratio is about one per every 1,000 residents. He stated there would <br />be 3.5 officers beginning January 2007 and there are currently two officers per shift. <br />Mayor Gamec asked where the reserve officers are located in the budget. <br />Chief Way responded reserve officers are listed under 211. He stated there are currently 15 <br />reserve officers and he is always open for more reserve staff as they eventually get picked up as <br />full -time police officers. <br />Police Chief Way reported no increased spending for Civil Defense. <br />Fire Chief Kapler reported personnel costs are increasing. He stated he requested a position for a <br />fire inspector but this position would go away in 2007. <br />Fire Chief Kapler stated he would like to purchase one additional vehicle that would be equipped <br />to respond to medical emergencies. He stated he would also like one new fire engine and a <br />thermal imaging camera. <br />Fire Chief Kapler mentioned with gas and diesel going up he would like to fill at Public Works. <br />He stated generator lights and replacement pagers are part of the FEMA grant application. <br />The remaining budget reports are scheduled for August 29, 2006. <br />MAYOR, COUNCIL AND STAFF INPUT <br />None. <br />ADJOURNMENT <br />The Work Session of the City Council was adjourned at 7:00 p.m. <br />Respectfully submitted, <br />James E.
