ORDINANCE 22-17 <br />CITY OF RAMSEY <br />ANOKA COUNTY <br />STATE OF MINNESOTA <br />AN ORDINANCE AMENDING THE CITY CHARTER OF THE CITY OF <br />RAMSEY, MINNESOTA PROHIBITING MEMBERSHIP ON THE CITY OF <br />RAMSEY CHARTER COMMISSION OF CITY COUNCIL MEMBERS AND <br />PROVIDING FOR OTHER RESTRICTIONS THEREOF <br />The City of Ramsey ordains: <br />SECTION 1. AUTHORITY <br />This Ordinance is adopted pursuant to the authority of the City Charter of the City of Ramsey and <br />such authority as it is given under Minnesota Statutes Section 410.12, subdivision 5. <br />SECTION 2. <br />The Section 2.4 of the City of Ramsey Charter is amended to read as follows: <br />"Sec. 2.4 — Incompatible offices. <br />No member of the Council shall hold any paid municipal office or employment through the <br />city other than that to which elected. Further, until one year after the expiration of his/her term, <br />no mayor or councilmember shall be appointed or employed by the city in a compensated position <br />which was created, or the compensation for which was increased, during his/her term as mayor or <br />councilmember. <br />No member of the Council may serve as a member of the City of Ramsey Charter <br />Commission while serving on the Council. No member of the Council may serve as a voting <br />member of any other Commission or Board of the City of Ramsey while he/she remains in office <br />unless such membership is otherwise required by law. <br />SECTION 3. EFFECTIVE DATE <br />This ordinance becomes effective 90 days after its passage and publication as provided in City of <br />Ramsey Charter 3.9 and Minnesota Statutes Section 410.12, Subdivision 5, as may be modified by <br />any action undertaken pursuant to City of Ramsey Charter Section 5. <br />PASSED by the City Council of the City of Ramsey, Minnesota, the 25th day of October 2022. <br />Mayor <br />
