Motion carried. Voting Yes: Chairperson Kiefer, Commissioners Vogt, Childs, Donovan,
' LaMere and Netzloff. Voting No: Commissioner Henke. Absent: Commissioner Rosenow and
Spain Brist.
The direction was that a questionnaire should be sent out to the applicants and the interviews
would be conducted the third Thursday in March (15).
Commissioner Henke stated she would like to get together as a Commission.
Following are the questions the Commission came up with for the questionnaire for the
applicants to fill out:
1) Are you a citizen of Ramsey?
2) Are you a registered voter?
3) What do you see as the most significant challenges Ramsey has faced in the last five
years?
' 4) What do you see as the most significant challenges Ramsey currently faces.
5) What do you see as the most significant challenges Ramsey faces in the future?
6) What is your motivation for wanting to be on the Charter?
7) Do you understand the role the Charter Commission plays within the City`?
8) What type of Commission should we be - proactive or reactive?
9) As a member of the Charter Commission, are you able to attend meetings on a periodic,
' as needed basis? (Make it clear that these meetings are fairly erratic.)
Chairperson Kiefer stated he would like for the appointees to be able to attend a meeting prior to
' their being placed on the Commission.
Commissioner Henke stated she would like to have more time to think about the questions for
' the questionnaire for the applicants.
Consensus of the Committee was that the questionnaire be typed up and sent out to each.
member, allowing them a week to look it over and suggest additions or deletions. The additions
and /or deletions would be at the discretion of the Chairperson.
1 Staff was directed to write an article for the Ramsey Resident informing citizens that they can
apply for the Charter Commission directly to the judge.
Case #3: Ward System
Chairperson Kiefer asked, with this special election coming up, is there any interest in putting
the ward system before the voters.
Motion by Commissioner Childs and seconded by Commissioner Netzloff to table discussion on
' this case and also to table the Commission Input portion of the agenda.
Charter Commission - February 15, 2001
-17-
