<br />3) 2007 Budget <br /> <br />City Administrator Norman stated the budget had been distributed. He said he would like to take <br />this time to have each department discuss major proposed changes or major line items. <br /> <br />Mayor Gamec asked City Administrator Norman if he had met with the departments. Finance <br />Officer Lund responded they did and looked at possible cuts to bring it down to tax rates. <br /> <br />Assistant City Administrator Nelson approached the Council to report on Mayor Gamec and the <br />Council Budget. She stated no major changes and some minor change such as an increase for <br />travel, meals, and lodging as detailed on page 39. She pointed out training decreased a little. <br />Assistant City Administrator Nelson stated an offsite meeting and facilitator are budgeted for the <br />Goal Setting Annually Retreat. She indicated under Commissions there not many changes and an <br />increase to minute taking dollars was made to reflect the actual cost. <br /> <br />Assistant City Administrator Nelson directed the Council to the Administration Budget on page <br />50. She said additional possible positions include a shared management intern, a communications <br />coordinator, and an executive secretary to support City Administrator Norman. She also <br />mentioned restructuring the administration department by shifting duties and responsibilities to <br />gain efficiencies and use peoples skill sets. <br /> <br />Councilmember Elvig asked if the positions follow the organizational chart. <br /> <br />City Administrator Norman stated it generally followed parallel. <br /> <br />Councilmember Jeffrey pointed out the executive secretary entry did not show the net funding <br />required. <br /> <br />Mayor Gamec expressed there would be more expectations from the public at the new building. <br /> <br />City Administrator Norman pointed out the new building would have clearly defined areas with <br />each department staffed. <br /> <br />Assistant City Administrator Nelson reported the City must purchase voting equipment in 2007 <br />amounting to $84,000. She stated she hopes the federal government would provide some <br />funding, as it is a federal election requirement to have one handicapped voting machine in each <br />voting precinct. <br /> <br />Mayor Gamec asked if the City pays for school elections. <br /> <br />Assistant City Administrator Nelson replied the City does not. <br /> <br />Assistant City Administrator Nelson directed Council members to data processing on page 84 <br />where there are some reductions. She mentioned some added software support and the option to <br />increase fiber connectivity between the new facility, the fire station and public works.
