Repc~t Ch Keep America <br />~auti~ul Clean-Qp Da~' Ana A Recyclinc Program: <br /> <br />Mr. Terry Miller of Waste "~nagement of l-~innesota, Inc. was present and <br />reportee that the Clean-Up Day was a great success with over 50er residents <br />using the free disposal priv.i1ege. The value of the free dispoa1 to <br />residents was $4.5,000, which was paio for by the City ana Waste l-~gernent. <br />Eleven tons of recyclab1es were collected at the Jaycee recyc1 ing center; . <br />40 4-Bers cleaned roadsioes; P..YAA children ana parents cleaned Central park <br />and smaller neighborhood parks. Over 100 people used the Household <br />Hazardous \'~aste 'Collection facility that was sponsored by the Ramse.y <br />LanCfill Commission in cooperation ,,-'ith t-jpCA. <br /> <br />Hr. fJ'J.ller statea that ,,-'hat Ramsey has been doing is good and the' Ci ty is <br />getting acknowledgement from the County and other- pol:.ticc.l bodies; <br />Ramsey's efforts in the area of abatenent and recycling shoulo continue to <br />grov?. Mr. ~il1er stated that he has learned that the opportunity for <br />cities to obtain funcing for their own programs will be taken away if <br />counties fill short of their goals for source separation. Mr. Mi:ler <br />~ateG' tha~ it is very important for Hamsey to be representee at the Metro <br />Council v~aste t-~gernent Advisory Comrr.i.ttee meeting on ~..ay 23 at 2: 00 p.m. <br />to express that RamseyiE ooinS it's Fart in solia waste abatement. Mr. <br />l"li.ller statea that another drop-off recycling center, in aaai tion to the <br />one located at the Landfill, is being considered in the vicinity of County <br />Road*B3 and ~~. ~lO. <br /> <br />Dale Henderson of Recycle America of Waste Jv~gernent of Blaine was present <br />to discuss the possibility of a pilot curbside piCk-Up project in Ramsey's <br />urban area. Mr. Henaerson stated that about 175 lotE ir. the urban area are <br />6eveloped ana there is the potential to obtain 14-15 tons of recyclable <br />Iilaterials from that area per year.
