An economic development
authority has broad powers and the legislation for it included combining
many of the-previous authorities into this one chapter of the State
statute. Mr. Goodrich reviewed the powers and membership rules for an
economic development authority and this a public hearing is mandatory in
establishing an economic development authority.

Mr. Hartley noted that Mr. Jack Ippel, Chairman of the Economic Development
Company, has expressed his desire that the City Council not be established
as the Economic Development Author ity c ontrollingb oard but rather some
other organization like the Economic Development Company.

ADJOURNMENT

Motion by Councilmemb er DeLuca and s ec onded by C ounc i lmemb er Bawden to
adjourn the public hearing.

;~
..
_.l

City Council Public Hearing/September 13, 1988

Ib
