CASE #2: REQUEST FOR VARIANCE FROM SECTION 170.076 OF THE RAMSEY CITY CODE TO ENCROACH ON THE REQUIRED SETBACK FROM THE RUM RIVER; CASE OF MR. DEAN HANSON By: Community Development Director Anne Norris Background: Mr. Dean Hanson is requesting a variance in order to construct a home on Lot 4, Block 1, Reilley Estates. This property is 1 oca ted in the Scenic River Overlay District. Mr. Hanson is requesting a variance to locate a home approximately 103 feet from the Rum River. Section 170.076 of the City Code requires structures to be located no closer than 150 feet to the Rum River. The structure on the adjacent property to the south is located approximately 80 feet from the Rum River and the structure on the adjacent property to the north is located approximately 127 feet from the Rum River. Mr. Hanson is proposing to locate his structure from the Rum River the average of the structures on the adjacent lots. John Stine, DNR, has reviewed Mr. Hanson's request; his comments will be available at the meeting.
