6. 2. <br />CC Regular Session <br />Meeting Date: 03/25/2025 <br />Primary Strategic Plan Initiative: Strive for high organizational morale and employee retention <br />Title: <br />Authorization to hire a Part-time Police Technician <br />Purpose/Background: <br />The purpose of this case is to request the City Council to hire a part-time Police Technician. As the City Council <br />will recall, during the 2025 budget discussions the Council agreed by consensus to add a new part-time (25 hour <br />per week) Police Technician. As a result, Staff conducted two recruitment processes in order to secure a <br />candidate for this role; this included an internal and external recruitment, first and second interviews, an extensive <br />backgrounding process and other pre -employment tests. Staff selected Ms. Rachael Jaremko, who will be <br />subject to a six-month probationary period, the AFSCME labor agreement and the City's Personnel Policy. It <br />should be noted that Ms. Jaremko has six years of experience as a Police Records Clerk. <br />In summary, this position performs a wide variety of technical and specialized functions as well as administrative <br />work in support of the Police Department, including but not limited to customer service support; entering, <br />maintaining, retrieving and compiling factual information through numerous computerized systems and <br />disseminating this information to authorized agencies and persons; monitoring compliance by applying <br />knowledge of data privacy practice requirements, responding to the public via telephone or in -person contact; <br />and classifying crimes pursuant to applicable state and federal reporting systems. <br />Funding Source: <br />The total funding required for this position is included in the 2025 budget. <br />Recommendation: <br />Staff recommends hiring Ms. Rachael Jaremko as the City's new Police Technician, effective on or near March <br />26, 2025, at $30.235 per hour, which is step 2 of the wage scale. <br />Outcome/Action: <br />Motion to authorize hiring Ms. Rachael Jaremko as the City's new Police Records Technician, effective on or <br />near March 26, 2025, at $30.235 per hour, which is step 2 of the wage scale. <br />Attachments <br />No files) attached. <br />Form Review <br />Inbox Reviewed By Date <br />Brian Hagen Brian Hagen 03/20/2025 11:19 AM <br />Form Started By: Colleen Lasher Started On: 03/05/2025 02:23 PM <br />Final Approval Date: 03/20/2025 <br />
