5. 6. <br />CC Regular Session <br />Meeting Date: <br />04/08/2025 <br />Primary Strategic Plan Initiative: Strive for high organizational morale and employee retention <br />Title: <br />Authorization to Hire a Building Maintenance Worker <br />Purpose/Background: <br />The purpose of this case is to request the City Council's authorization to hire a full-time Building Maintenance <br />Worker. This recruitment was necessary due to a vacancy left by the former employee in this position. <br />An internal and external recruitment was conducted and Mr. Kevin Fields was selected as the top candidate for <br />the position. Staff completed the necessary background checks and are recommending that Mr. Fields begin as <br />the City's new full-time Building Maintenance Worker on or near April 9, 2025. <br />As with all City employees recognized by the American Federation of State, County and Municipal Employees <br />(AFSCME) bargaining unit, he will serve a six-month probationary period and will be subject to the City's <br />Personnel Policy and the AFSCME Labor Agreement. <br />The primary objectives of this position are to assist in maintaining city facilities, including, but not limited to <br />buildings, offices, meeting rooms, HVAC equipment and grounds of the Ramsey Municipal Center, both Fire <br />Stations, City Parks, Public Works facility and the Municipal Parking Facility, as well as assist with elections <br />set-up and take -down. <br />Funding Source: <br />The funding required for this position is included in the 2025 budget. <br />Recommendation: <br />To hire Mr. Kevin Fields as a full-time Building Maintenance Worker, effective on or near April 9, 2025, at <br />$26.615 per hour, which is step 1 of the 2025 wage scale. <br />Outcome/Action: <br />Motion to hire Mr. Kevin Fields as a full-time Building Maintenance Worker, effective on or near April 9, 2025, <br />at $26.615 per hour, which is step 1 of the 2025 wage scale. <br />No file(s) attached. <br />Attachments <br />Form Review <br />Inbox Reviewed By Date <br />Brian Hagen Kathy Schmitz 04/03/2025 01:55 PM <br />Form Started By: Colleen Lasher Started On: 03/25/2025 12:54 PM <br />Final Approval Date: 04/03/2025 <br />
