CC Regular Session <br />Meeting Date: <br />04/08/2025 <br />Primary Strategic Plan Initiative: Strengthen and enhance our identity, brand and image. <br />5. 9. <br />Title <br />Adopt Resolution #25-072 Proclaiming April25, 2025, as Arbor Day and the Month of May as Arbor Month <br />Purpose/Background: <br />The City of Ramsey has been recognized as a Tree City USA for thirty-three (33) consecutive years (up through <br />and including 2024 activities). One of the standards necessary to obtain this designation is the adoption of an <br />Arbor Day proclamation. At its roots, Arbor Day is a day to encourage and celebrate the planting of trees. In <br />Minnesota, Arbor Day is officially observed on the last Friday of April, which this year is April25. The State of <br />Minnesota also recognizes the month of May as Arbor Month. The attached resolution serves as the City's official <br />observance of Arbor Day on April25, 2025, and also recognizes May as Arbor Month. <br />Time Frame/Observations/Alternatives: <br />City Staff are planning an Arbor Month planting activity that will serve multiple purposes. First, it satisfies one <br />of the standards to obtain recertification as a Tree City USA. Secondly, it will serve to start replacing lost canopy <br />cover due to Emerald Ash Borer (EAB).
