<br />. <br /> <br /> <br />. <br /> <br /> <br />.. <br /> <br /> <br />Special Council/ 8/23/76 <br /> <br />SPECIAL MEETING <br />RAMSEY CITY COUNCIL <br />CITY OF RAMS EY <br />COUNTY OF ANOKA <br />STATE OF MINNESOTA <br /> <br />A special meeting of the Ramsey City Council was held on August 23, 1976, at <br />Ramsey Elementary School, 15000 Nowthen Boulevard, Ramsey, Minnesota 55303. <br /> <br />Present: Mayor Cox <br />Councilman Gorham <br />Councilman Mickelson <br />Councilman Reimann <br /> <br />Also Present: Clerk-Treasurer Walker <br />Mr. Don Otter, Waste Management <br />Mr. Dick Sha, City Engineer <br /> <br />Absent: Councilwoman Oliphant <br /> <br />Mayor Cox called the meeting to order at 6:40 p.m. <br /> <br />Pledge of allegiance to the flag was led by Mayo: Cox. <br /> <br />Mayor Cox stated that the purpose of ' the meeting was to discuss the landfill <br />question with Mr. Don Otter of Waste Management, Wisconsin. <br /> <br />A general djscussion on the problem areas took place. <br /> <br />Mr. Otter brought out three points that he was concerned with. <br />a. #1 concern -- pollution <br />b. the economic feasibility factors to continue the operation <br />c. what does Ramsey want in relation to finishing the landfill project <br /> <br />Dick Sha indicated some items that the City was concerned with. <br />a. chain, link fences. around the project. <br />b. four tennis courts <br />c. hockey rinks <br />d. concession and storage buildings <br />e. ski run and tow ropes <br />f. lights for the various fields <br />g. ball diamonds <br />h. an 80 acre park at a cost factor of $384,000.00. <br /> <br />Mayor Cox stated that the City of Ramsey should ultimately receive clear title to the <br />land. He also stated that the City Council of Ramsey wants to be reasonable on <br />the entire question. The Mayor indicated that Waste Management can negotiate <br />directly with Anok~, but the City Council of Ramsey will insist on a good operation <br />of the landfill. He wants immediate action--no fool ing around on the question. <br /> <br />The next meeting date between Ramsey and Waste Management will be held on Tuesday, <br />August 31, 1976, at Ramsey City Hall. <br /> <br />Council man Reimann made a mati on to adjourn, seconded by Counci 1 man Gorham. <br />Carried 4 to 0 <br /> <br />Meeting adjourned at 7:37 p.m. <br /> <br />; , <br /> <br />Respectfully submitted, <br /> <br />~~' ,"- <br />Iv r: t/' tJ~.e.--, <br />on~ d E.
