Identify people who <br />seemed to be poor matches (resignations, terminations, poor performance, absenteeism, excessive <br />conflict, etc.). Review the situations that signal a poor match and look for the reason (missing <br />skills, personal style, lack of motivation, etc.). Look for a pattern. Determine reasons for the poor <br />matches (selection/placement procedures, poor interviewing skills, using gut -feelings, etc.)? <br />Using the Diverse Talents and Experiences of the Group to Maximum <br />Advantage <br />Skills, Behaviors and Attitudes to Adapt and Practice <br />Capitalize on each person's strengths and experiences to create a potent team effort. <br />Be willing to take the ideas of your people to the next organizational level and support their ideas <br />enthusiastically. Give credit where credit is due. <br />Assign direct reports possessing the required skills to perform new tasks for greater efficiency. <br />Be aware that a fall in personal productivity may indicate that a direct report is not being <br />challenged. Keep a constant check that you are providing every person in your work unit the <br />opportunity to apply all of their skills and talents to their job. <br />Challenging Activities <br />You first learned of your direct reports' talents and experiences through your hiring process. <br />Refresh your memory by reviewing their resumes and applications to be sure you are using their <br />diverse talents and experiences to maximize performance in your work unit. <br />
