Refer to the Performance Standards section for these standards. 1 2 Sec. 108-302 — Performance standards. 3 (1) General performance standards. 4 a. The following performance standards apply in addition to the specific perfor- 5 mance standards for a specific type of sign 6 i. No sign other than governmental signs shall be erected or temporarily 7 placed within any street, public right-of-way, or any public easement 8 uu t for dir�LLIur1al bpt cifred within thib chapter 9 ii. No sign shall interfere with the ability of drivers and pedestrians to see 10 any street or highway sign, or any traffic sign or signal, or any crossroad 11 or crosswalk. 12 iii. No sign shall distract drivers nor offer any confusion to any street or high- 13 way, sign, or any traffic sign or signal. 14 iv. No sign shall extend over any lot line 15 v. No sign shall be located within 15 feet of any point of vehicular access 16 from a parcel to a public roadway. 17 vi. It is the property owner's responsibility to locate prop- 19 erty lines to ensure compliance with this section. 20 (2) Wall signs. 21 a. For a sign which is framed, outlined, or otherwise prepared and intended to pro- 22 vide a background for a sign display, the sign face area and dimensions shall in- 23 clude the entire portion within such background or frame. 24 b. For a sign comprised of individual letters, figures, or elements on a wall or similar 25 surface of the building or structure, the area and dimensions of the sign face 26 shall encompass the total area of each letter, figure, or element used in the sign. 27 c. For wall signs that utilize backer boards as a design element, the backer board 28 should only be used to the extent needed for supporting the sign. 29 d. All wall signs designed to he affixed flat against an exterior wall or raceway shall 30 not project more than 16 inches from the wall to which the sign is affixed. 31 e. Buildings with two or more tenants shall proportionately distribute allcvvable wall 32 signage to each tenant, based on the percentage of the facade occupied by each 33 tenant. Page 20 of 30
