The bids will close on <br />February 23, 1976 at 4 p.m. <br /> <br />Carried 5 to 0 <br /> <br />New Business <br />Mr. Ronald Jerich, Bui19ing Conmrittee representative,. stated that the <br />Committee has met on various occasions to consider Council's charge of <br />asking them what they think should be done for the new city hall. <br /> <br />They interviewed three architect firms: Bettendorf, Cerny and Wold. <br />After reviewing everything the building committee chose Cerny and Associates <br />to go ahead on the building. They need Council to approve $1,500 which will <br />cover taking the building from the present stage to presentation to the people. <br />He reported on Cerny's reputation and said the other architects were .less <br />impressive than Cerney. They are a big architectural firm and they took into <br />consideration vlhat the Committee told them and came back ..lith it. The building <br />will be a functional type building of about 3,QOO square feet that w'LU blend <br />into the commun.ity. Tt will be a sp1i t leveJ bunding 1".1'1 th portab1.e Nalls <br />for offices, fluctuating with needs, permanent conference room, etc. He said <br />they have done all they can do so it is time to hire an architect. He will draw <br />up the kind of building we want and then it will be sent to the people before <br />bonding. Charges are 8% of cost. <br /> <br />Clerk-Treasurer Walker reported the initial cost goes into this. <br /> <br />Mayor Cox said it is commendable that the Committee is able to stay in a <br />figure that people can afford and that a City of this size need a place to <br />work out of. <br /> <br />Councilman Reimann said ~he Building Committee is working in the right <br />direction and with the little they have had to work with, went out and took <br />great steps forward to get the job done. He thinks $1,500 is a reasonable <br />price. <br /> <br />Councilman Gorham said he feels $1,500 is a reasonable price and that the <br />Committee has done a very good job. <br /> <br />Motion by Gorham secon~ed by Reimann to accept the Building Cowmittees <br />report and to authorize Cerny & Associates to proceed with preliminary <br />drawings of the municipal center for $1,500.00. <br />Carr.ied 5 to 0 <br /> <br />Clerk-Treasurer read Ordinance 76-1, extending the moratorium. <br /> <br />Motion by Mickelson seconded by Gorham to adopt Ordinance 76-1. <br />Carried 5 to 0 <br />Motion by ;Gorham seconded by Oliphant to adjourn at 10:45 p.m. <br />Carded 5 to 0 <br /> <br />Respectfully submitted, <br /> <br />Donald E.
