"" Admi'nistrator Walker explained that one was for Robert Casper and one was for himself to attend the building official school. Mayor Cox referring to the special meeting with the b~ilding inspector, Mr. Casper, said'Mr. Casper requested an assistant to help with the assessing procedure. '", ~ NEw BUSINESS Metro Land Use Bill. Councilman Gorham reported on the status of the action being taken by Mr. Steffens and. himself on the Metro Land Use Bill amendment. First, Mr. Walker prepared .a letter which was sent to. all of the area communities asking for their support in conjunction with the City of Ramsey to take steps against the proposed legislation. Mr. Steffens and he then sent out another letter to the same communities inviting them to meet for general discussion on January 7th at the County Commissioners Room, Anoka County Court House. Inclement weather affected the attendance at the meeting. Dayton, Ham Lake, Andover and Commissioners Fields and Burman were present. At the meeting a discussion was held and Mr. Steffens is to prepare a letter to be sent to the same communities informing them of the discussion and results of the meeting-- A joint effort to ask for amendments to the Bill or at least be able to appe~l the.decisions of the Metro Council to a Board of Appeals which would consist primarily of elected officials Mr. Steffens is to be hired to continue work on the project at a cost of not more than $1500 contingent upon help from other communities and no City would be asked to pay more than $300. The communities represented at the meeting indicated their Councils would want to work with the City of Ramsey in this matter. A letter of response from them is expected to arrive this week indicating their city's desire to participate. Councilman Gorham asked Council to allocate an additional ten hours to Mr. Steffens so he can continue to work on the project until input from other communities is received. Motion by Reimann seconded by Mickelson to allow ten more hours to Mr. Steffens to continue working on the project. Carried 5 Ayes Motion by Reimann seconded by lftickelson to adjourn at 10:40 p.m. Carried 5 Ayes Councilman assessed. be covered additional Reimapn said Mr. Casper showed a map with the area to He needs someone to speed up the job so more area can in less time. At the meeting Council designated areas to be assessed. Mayor Cox reported that Mr. Casper wants to go to more homes to insure equality in taxation because he has found discrepancies in the books. He said Mr. Casper found that some are being assessed more than they should be while others are assessed less . than they,should be. Councilman Reimann said with help the area being covered would benefit eveyone in the City. He said Mr. Casper gave sound reasons for wanting some hel~ and that with help it would only take ten days to do the assessing. Councilman Gorham said Mr. Casper was only going to do 1/4 of the City but with help he could do 1/3 of the City to insure fairer taxation. Motion by Reimann that if. Sue Thompson is willing to help Mr. Casper, she should be hired for a period of ten days to help him in assessing the area designa,ted at fthe January 7, 1976 meeting at the rate of $3.75 per hour. , 4 Ayes Gorham abstained Respectfully submitted, Donald E.
