1 ii. No sign shall interfere with the ability of drivers and pedestrians to see <br />2 any street or highway sign, or any traffic sign or signal, or any crossroad <br />3 or crosswalk. <br />4 iii. No sign shall distract drivers nor offer any confusion to any street or high- <br />5 way, sign, or any traffic sign or signal. <br />6 iv. No sign shall extend over any lot line. <br />7 v. No sign shall be located within 15 feet of any point of vehicular access <br />8 from a parcel to a public roadway. <br />9 vi. All signs must be located fully on private property, with the permission of <br />10 the property owner. It is the property owner’s responsibility to locate prop- <br />11 erty lines to ensure compliance with this section. <br />12 (2) Wall signs. <br />13 a. For a sign which is framed, outlined, or otherwise prepared and intended to pro- <br />14 vide a background for a sign display, the sign face area and dimensions shall in- <br />15 clude the entire portion within such background or frame. <br />16 b. For a sign comprised of individual letters, figures, or elements on a wall or similar <br />17 surface of the building or structure, the area and dimensions of the sign face <br />18 shall encompass the total area of each letter, figure, or element used in the sign. <br />19 c. For wall signs that utilize backer boards as a design element, the backer board <br />20 should only be used to the extent needed for supporting the sign. <br />21 d. All wall signs designed to be affixed flat against an exterior wall or raceway shall <br />22 not project more than 16 inches from the wall to which the sign is affixed. <br />23 e. Buildings with two or more tenants shall proportionately distribute allowable wall <br />24 signage to each tenant, based on the percentage of the façade occupied by each <br />25 tenant. <br />26 f. Wall signs may be internally or externally illuminated, provided that the light <br />27 source is not visible or exposed on the face or sides of the characters. <br />28 g. Building directory signs attached to an exterior wall count toward allowable wall <br />29 signage. <br />30 h. Signage attached to a motor fuel station canopy counts toward allowable wall <br />31 signage. <br />32 i. Wall signs are not allowed on any of the following uses in any zoning district, ex- <br />33 cept those explicitly allowed in accordance with home occupation performance <br />34 standards in Section 106-425(2) of City Code: <br />35 i. single-family detached dwellings, <br />36 ii. detached townhome dwellings (including villas, cottage homes, and the <br />37 like), <br />38 iii. attached townhouse dwellings, <br />39 iv. two-family attached dwellings, <br />40 v. accessory dwelling units (ADUs), <br />41 vi. any detached accessory structure built in conjunction with any of the uses <br />42 listed in Items i-v in this section above. <br />43 (3) Projecting and blade signs. <br />44 a. The total area of each sign face counts toward the allowable area for wall sign- <br />45 age. <br />46 b.
