Title: Adopt Resolution #25-119 Approving Change Order No. 34 for Improvement Project #20-11, Ramsey Gateway Highway 10 Improvements Purpose/Background: Purpose: The purpose of this case is to adopt Resolution #25-119 approving Change Order No. 34 for Improvement Project #20-11, Ramsey Gateway Highway 10 Improvements. Background: In 2023, construction began on the Ramsey Gateway Highway 10 project, which includes grade separation of Highway 10 at the intersections of Sunfish Lake Boulevard and Ramsey Boulevard, frontage road improvements on both sides of Highway 10, and grade separation of the Burlington Northern Santa Fe (BNSF) railway crossings of Ramsey Boulevard and Sunfish Lake Boulevard. Construction of this project is scheduled for completion by the Spring of 2026. Numerous City utilities have been and will continue to be constructed and/or reconstructed as part of this project per the approved construction plans. During the project, a new, larger storm sewer outfall to the Mississippi River was constructed south of Riverdale Drive to accommodate added runoff from Highway 10. Therefore, the existing smaller outfall pipe and apron are no longer needed and can be removed. However, the plans did not reflect this work so a change order is required. Ames Construction will provide all labor, equipment and material to remove the existing storm sewer run and river outfall as well as restoration of the disturbed area including the replacement of concrete curb & gutter, bituminous pavement and boulevard turf along Riverdale Drive. Change Order No. 34 addresses the required storm sewer removal work as identified in this case and in attached Change Order No. 34, which has been signed by representatives from the Minnesota Department of Transportation (MnDOT) and Ames Construction. Time Frame/Observations/Alternatives: Adopt Resolution #25-119 approving Change Order No. 34 for Improvement Project #20-11, Ramsey Gateway Highway 10 Improvements. Funding Source: The Extra Work associated with Change Order No. 34 will increase project costs in the amount of $115,759.60. Payment for the storm sewer removal, structure removal and all restoration work will be made at contract unit prices and negotiated unit prices, and will be funded through the project at no additional cost to the city. Recommendation: Engineering staff recommend approving Change Order No. 34. Outcome/Action:
