3. 1. <br />CC Regular Session <br />Meeting Date: <br />05/27/2025 <br />Primary Strategic Plan Initiative: Enhance City's communication through transparency and accountability. <br />Title: <br />Annual Public Works Department Update <br />Purpose/Background: <br />Purpose: <br />Public Works staff will present high-level updates on activities and operations completed by Public Works staff <br />from June 2024 through May 2025. <br />Background: <br />The Public Works Department generally consists of four divisions including Building Maintenance, Parks, <br />Streets, and Utilities, and is generally responsible for operating and maintaining all public infrastructure systems <br />across the city. <br />Primary work duties for each division are as follows; <br />Building Maintenance — <br />. Maintain 15 city -owned buildings including: <br />• Maintain and repair electrical, mechanical and plumbing systems <br />• Perform routine cleaning <br />• Raise and lower flags <br />• Provide snow and ice control <br />• Administer contracted repair services <br />• Maintain cemeteries <br />• Assist with administration of elections <br />Parks — <br />• Maintain over 500 acres of municipal parkland containing 39 municipal parks, 17 of which have <br />playgrounds, along with 2 regional parks with varying amenities <br />• Maintain approximately 75 miles of trails, 30 miles of sidewalks, and 7 boardwalks <br />• Provide recreational programming opportunities <br />Streets — <br />• Maintain approximately; <br />• 188 miles paved streets <br />• 3 miles gravel roads <br />• 300-plus cul-de-sacs <br />• Provide snow and ice control on all city streets <br />• Maintain all stormwater infrastructure <br />• Mow grass and trim trees in city right-of-way <br />• Mow numerous city properties <br />Utilities — <br />• Operate and maintain municipal utility systems including approximately; <br />
