o Crosswalk Markings for Corridor estimated to cost $16,500 <br />• Estimated Project Costs $530,000 <br />Option 2: Replace the colored concrete with stamped and stained concrete pavement <br />• Many pattern and color options are available, including brick patterns and colors. <br />o Adding architectural concrete texture (brick pattern) estimated to cost $90,000 <br />o Adding architectural surface finish (concrete stain) estimated to cost $27,000 <br />■ Requires re -staining every 2 to 3 years <br />• Replacement of 10 concrete pedestrian ramps <br />• Could consider additional pavement markings to enhance crossings <br />• Estimated Project Costs $650,000 <br />Option 3: Replace with colored concrete pavement <br />• Many color options are available. <br />• Replacement of 10 concrete pedestrian ramps <br />• Could consider additional pavement markings to enhance crossings <br />• Estimated Project Costs $615,000 <br />• Staff do not support this option. <br />Additional Consideration: Remove parking bay on south side of Sunwood Drive across from Center Street <br />• Improves safety: MN Statute 169.34 doesn't support allowing parking in this area <br />o Parking is not allowed within an intersection / on a crosswalk / within 20 feet of a crosswalk at an <br />intersection <br />• This section of parking fails all three prohibitions above <br />• Estimated Additional Project Costs $25,000 (additional cost to any of the options) <br />o Staff is reviewing storm sewer impacts to the existing 42" storm sewer lines <br />Based on Public Works Committee input, staff is also requesting a recommendation from the committee for <br />City Council to order plans and specifications for Sunwood Drive Crosswalk Repairs, Improvement Project <br />#25-08. <br />Sunwood Drive is an MSA street. Plans require MnDOT State Aid approval prior to opening bids. Staff <br />estimates that once City Council orders plans and specifications, plans can be produced in approximately 4 <br />weeks as part of staff's normal duties. The MnDOT State Aid review time is typically 4 to 6 weeks. Due to the <br />severe interruptions this work will cause to Sunwood Drive, staff recommend work starting after the Happy <br />Days event, which will be held on Saturday, September 6th <br />Y Y� p <br />If for some reason plans were not ready for bidding in August to start in early September, they would be <br />available for early winter bidding and early spring 2026 construction. <br />Notification: <br />No notifications are required with this case. <br />Time Frame/Observations/Alternatives: <br />Time Frame: <br />Staff anticipates up to 15 minutes are required to present information on the case and answer any questions <br />from the committee. <br />
